As the Martial Art of Kuk Sool Won comes from Korea, students will follow many Korean customs. Koreans choose to bow instead of shaking hands. In the School (Do-Jahng), we will demonstrate the same respect by using the Korean form of bowing. Bowing is a form of salute that merely designates, and demonstrates, respect. Bowing to Koreans is what the handshake is to Westerners.

Kuk Sool Won is a comprehensive Korean martial arts system founded in 1961 by Suh In Hyuk. It was founded as a complete system and is not limited to a single discipline. The goal of Kuk Sool Won was to create an elaborate study of different traditional martial arts of Korea, including their fighting techniques, weapon training skills and mental development methods.
Kuk Sool Won is a systematic study of all traditional fighting arts, which together comprise the Martial Arts history of Korea. Integrating the entire scale of established Asian fighting arts, Kuk Sool Won doesn’t only focus on methods of attack and defence but, also includes the study of healing techniques and the development of internal power, in addition to the physical training.
